The Ravens Wing by Frances Watts

I first heard about this book at the Harper Collins ‘Between the Covers’ event where I had the pleasure of meeting the author, now friend, Frances Watts. Such a great, un-put-downable, quality read!! Amazing historical fiction set in Ancient Rome and brings to light a time when women had little to no rights, a time when girls as young as 15 were married by arrangement and used as pawns to advance their new husband’s social, economic or political status.. This story keeps you on the edge of your seat with twists and turns, deceit, betrayal and mystery, with fantastic reference to Roman history and mythology.. A great page turner, I convinced friends in Read3r’z Re-Vu to pick this up.. NJ had the same reaction!!!

Great plot, fast pace story telling. There’s a huge twist which I did not see coming. I love how the book weaves history into the plot making the reader feels as if they are in Claudia’s shoes and going to the bath is an ordinary event! Roman politics and history was also very interesting. Highly recommended for those who loves stories with “who do I choose?” and “who done it?!” situations. This book is easy to read. An engaging mystery with an unguessable twist.
