Tell Us Something True by Dana Reinhardt

A great YA read – 4 stars

For a novel based on lies, Tell Us Something True is an honest depiction of life.

The main character River, lies to everyone he knows. He stalks his ex, neglects his friends and obsesses over the wrong things. Despite all this however, he is in fact a likeable character! Like all of us, he is just trying to make his way through life the only way he knows how and trying to figure out who he is – hopefully along the way, he will make some genuine connections with other people.

I read this book really quickly as I was captivated by the story and the characters. It’s a story that highlights the importance of honesty and friendship. To quote the novel “it’s better than perfect.. it’s good”

Special thanks to Bloomsbury Publishing Australia for sending me an Advance Review Copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I highly recommend this to YA fans who are looking for a unique, contemporary read.
